Monthly Bird Walks

Description: Whether you’re a seasoned birder or an amateur, join Sheila Webber for a bird walk around Equalizer on the First Saturday of each month 8am-10am from February-October in 2019. Walking will be at a slow pace on approximately 2 miles of level walking paths. Consider bringing binoculars and a field guide to enhance your birding experience.

The Bird Walk group will meet in front of the HPEC Visitor’s Center to begin the walk.The event will be cancelled in the event of severe weather or muddy conditions.

Disaster+Travel+Wilderness First Aid Certification Course 
March 23-24, 2019
2-day class, 8:30am-6:30/7pm both days
Location: The University of Northern Colorado
Description: LEARN HOW to SAVE LIFE and LIMB in a
-Wilderness area-rural area (not near a hospital)
-disaster site or
-travel anywhere
This is a great course for anyone who ventures outdoors, travels, or wants to help in case of an emergency during a disaster! 

10% of proceeds will be donated to The High Plains Environmental Center.

Native Plant Sale & Habitat Fair
May 4th & May 18th, 2019

Location: High Plains Environmental Center

Description: Join us Saturday May 4th and Saturday May 18th, 2019 from 9am-3pm for our Native Plant Sale and Habitat Fair at 2698 Bluestem Willow Drive in Loveland (located in The Lakes at Centerra). Come buy native plants, tour our new visitor center, check out our partner’s booths, participate in activities, and eat!

Volunteering at HPEC:

Have you ever been interested in learning about what we do here at the High Plains Environmental Center, and how you can get involved? Not only will volunteering at HPEC give you an opportunity to connect with a small non-profit working to benefit the community, but it will also provide opportunities to work alongside our highly skilled staff and receive hands-on experience. Project areas include working in the Native Plant Nursery & Pollinator Demonstration Gardens, Land Stewardship, Outreach, Education and more.

HPEC Lakes Cleanup

Description: An immense amount of trash has found its way onto the properties we own and manage, and we need your help to clean it up. Trash pickup is more than getting rid of unsightly or unhealthy debris. It is also about restoring habitats and preventing impacts of harmful consumption on plants & wildlife.
